Ramblings of a crazy old lady

various thoughts and happenings in an old lady's everyday life

Random Concerns

0060-0507-2013-5811  I have begun to curtail my use of the social media outlet that most of the family uses. The more certain ones post regarding how good they are, or are trying to be, the more they also post about things they are doing that are not good. I don’t care. None of them are miscreants or felons, so they are in better shape than most.

I just get tired of reading how good they are. My ancestors used to say, “put your money where your mouth is”. If you are really good, people know it and don’t have to be told.

Then there has been the day after day exchange of posts regarding the flying or the right to fly the confederate flag. That war has been over for a long time. Are we going to fight it again. I AM from the South, and was raised by southerners. I don’t need a special flag and a fight about it to live my life according to those ways.

AND the exposure of item after item of Obama sins and Clinton sins, not to mention congress’ money mongering. I say QUIT talking and take action. If you don’t like what they are doing make them quit. Posting about it does nothing except keep attention on these issues instead of whatever Wash. DC is trying to keep us from seeing.

If you really want to do something good, bombard Congress to give more assistance to the military and especially their families.

AND now we are in Hurricane and severe weather season. Florida is having semi-monsoon. Are you ready for the power to go down from severe weather? Do you have staple food and potable water ready? Have you gone to your local agency to get a list of what you should be getting and doing? While you are packing in food and drinking water, don’t forget wash and flush water, cleaning products, alternative ways to cook, and stay well.

Don’t forget the elderly, shut ins, and disabled in your neighborhood. They will need assistance. Yeah, I know. But you never know when you will be in their shoes and need someone to care about you.

And make sure you are preparing for the safety and well being of your 4-legged loved ones. Lay in extra food. Make a clean and safe place for them that YOU can get to in order to assist them. In 2004 I stayed on a ranch so I could help the owner with her horses. It is a helpless feeling to watch out the window while they tuck a foal between the mare and the pasture-mate to shield the young one from as much weather as they could. We ran out during the eye to do what we could. Did this during 2 hurricanes that year. We had the dogs and cats inside. The fear from these animals is heart-rending for those of us who love them.

2nd week

You cannot put livestock inside unless you have a cement building with expensive equipment. They are better off outside where they can run from danger they see coming.

All of the above cautions and advice holds good for any and everyday of your life.
